Chester Higgins jr.
http://photographs.chesterhiggins.com/index.html

The photos speak for them selves themselves . lately   I have been tapping into what asa photographer I want to say an I feel like Higgins has a lot to say and through his work I see my questions answered a a different way .

Gorden Parks
http://www.ldesign.com/KGLPhoto/GordonParks.htm

Gorden parks work makes me feel accomplished the way he captures the anguish in the mothers face a she holds her child makes me feel helpless . the in the first photograph the the figure in the foreground has their hands behind there back balled up as if he knows its too late. The small figure in the bed pulls at my heart because once again I feel helpless . all of these photos are composed wonderfully .

Jamel Shabazz

I chose two 3 photos this week because Jamel shabazz's work is
simply beautiful the way he captures the time really feels like a movement frozen in time you can hear the spouting of the water you can hear the sound of the music coming from the boom-box you can even feel the movement of the train his work to me is a pure brilliant documentation of the time. it makes me want to travel back just for that moment .

Cornelia Hediger

The thing that first drew me to this photograph was the setting a simple composition with and intention. The way the photograph is lit implies a frontal light because of the shadow the figure is casting. However the light in the photographer is behind the figure. The jagged borders only add to the oddness the image suggest. The female figure is rocking the baby, a brilliant way to demonstrate the passage of time.

Herb Ritts

I love all of Herb Ritts's work but this is one image I
feel in love with when i got his book. Beyond every other image this one is
a skillful understanding of value composition and a balance of the both of them
he uses a figure and a octopus to create a masterful peace of art without knowing the intent of the
photograph one is mesmerizer by the beauty . That is what I hope to accomplish with my work
a beautiful photograph with a conceptual story to further intrigue the viewer .
There was also another image I couldn't find that was of a woman in the middle of nowhere using a grill
almost as if she was a statue. it is beautiful the simplicity once again is executed in a way that draws your attention first an them implies a question to be asked .

Yousuf Karsh

This image to me is a magnificent demonstration of capturing a person as they are  the expression to me says he is strong and aware . Ernest Hemingway ,the person in the photograph , was a writer an you can see every story
written on his face . The large range of values and the balance of light and dark add to the boldness of the photograph ,

Norma jean Roy

this photo for me is one of beautiful execution the way her left arm continues the door frame behind her
an the placement of her head in relation to the black opening , the Asymmetry created by the placement of the focus . The same Asymmetry repeated in the placement of the model in relation to the balcony and door .
kinda makes me feel like we are viewing something we aren't supposed to see. A seemingly intimate moment if you will . The dress is in this floral print making her feel one with the surrounding internment . There is just something about this photograph that makes me wanna see the rest of the story ... where is she why is she there . is she trapped is she  good is she bad. Just so many questions that I want to get answered .
But Then again when they get answered will this photo mean as much to me ?
I enjoy the wonder of this photo, the unknown , it helps to fuel the  image .

e.j Bellocq

I have never really seen His work but when i saw this photo
I was highly surprised excited even the balance of lights and dark is so
artistic, he choose what the model whore and when  he positioned her he
knew where the stockings would look best . Her legs almost become an extension
of another table beautiful .

Walker Evans

This photograph intrigued me first because of the subject matter, black people were
captured in images as they were , that being said the expressions only further
enhance the idea of over labor and just the idea of being a slave .
however the expression of the boy on the right-hand side of the photo
is almost unaware of whats to come in the feature . The expression on the boy on the left side
is what sells this image of me he makes me laugh . an i like when a photo of
such a serious time can bring me joy .
